A woman worker at a children's nursery charged with sexual assault and making and distributing indecent images of children will appear in court Thursday. Police charged Vanessa George, 39, a mother of two, after closing down the Little Ted's nursery in Plymouth which caters to about 60 children. Police said the nursery would remain closed while their investigation was ongoing, describing the situation as "significant and disturbing." Toshiba says to cut British jobs, focus on Poland »

Japanese electronics giant Toshiba said Friday it was cutting 270 jobs in Britain to move production to Poland. The firm said it was stopping the production of flat-screen televisions at its factory in Plymouth, southwest England. Just 50 support staff will remain at the plant, whose closure brings down the curtain on 28 years of television set manufacturing in the city.
